Hi lovers,

It's meditation time,

I think there's one thing that we all enjoy doing and that is eating.

I could personally eat 24/7 but it doesn't mean that I always enjoy eating healthy food. However, within the past year, I've become interested in knowing the benefits of eating healthy products and that is why I want to share with you what I have learned and the effects it had and have on me still. Alright, you may think, '' Ok Camilla, we all know that eating healthy is what we need, so why is your article going to change my mind? '' - My goal is not to make someone change is mind but I will be more than happy if you take my advice and apply it to your diet.

#1 Lemons

I have to say that we have heard and have read articles about why lemons are so good for us but to me, they have been extremely helpful in my process of drinking more water. I was never a big fan of drinking 2-3 litres of water a day until my skin started getting really bad and really dry. And my body wasn't in the best shape but everybody around me would constantly be drinking water with lemons so I decided to start drinking water with lemon every day without doing in researchers on why it was great for me. Then, I realized after 3 weeks of drinking an average of 2.5 litres a day that I felt much better. First, because it would help me evacuate the toxins out of my body but also because I had lost 3 pounds without doing much. But why are lemons so popular? What are its nutrients good for our body?

They contain numerous vitamins such as vitamin E which is an amazing antioxidant. They also contain vitamin A, B an C, magnesium, iron, zinc, which we should consume every day in our food but we know that we don't always have time to eat healthy and balanced meals. And if we add lemons to our diet every day, what would it do? It will prevent many diseases and discomfort, such as constipation, indigestion, diabetes and some cancers as well.  There are many ways to add lemons to our diet every day. Water is not the only option we have. We can mix it with salmon or other important meals which will add a delicious as fresh taste to it.

#2 Chocolate

I love chocolate and this is why I eat some every day, but knowing the negative effects that milk chocolate can have on us, I decided to stop consuming milk and white chocolate. I cut out white and milk chocolate from my diet.  I was '' addicted '' to the sweet taste and I was capable of eating chocolate morning, afternoon and evening until I realized how bad it became a habit. But since I was not willing -  and I'm still not willing - to give up on chocolate I opted for dark chocolate. My favourites chocolates to eat daily are the Lindt ones. Excellence Orange Intense and the Excellence Sésame are my favourites flavours of all. The benefits of eating a small portion of dark chocolate a day are numerous.

First, they are low in calorie and, unlike milk chocolate, and they have more fibre than regular chocolates that are high in sugar and low in fibre. It is as well a powerful source of antioxidants. Food rich in antioxidants helps our body eliminating all those bacteria, which are damaging our digesting system if not properly throw out of our system. Dark chocolate can be richer in antioxidants than other fruits such as blueberries and Acai berries but it is important to only consume a small amount as too much chocolate can also be bad for our body. Another reason why I like eating dark chocolate almost every day in small quantity is that it protects my skin against the sun. How is that possible you may wonder? Because of the bioactive in dark chocolate. What it does, is that it protects us from sun-induced damage. It also improves the blood flow, which also increases the hydration and skin density.

But for those of you who don't like dark chocolate what can you do? There are many recipes online for you to try. What I personally do is melt the dark chocolate when it is above 80% and I mix is a Soy or Almond Milk, and I don't add sugar to it, as the purpose of eating dark chocolate, to me,  is to avoid this sweet taste that gets me addicted quickly.

3#  Turmeric

This last ingredient is probably one of my favourites among all. I actually consume it every day while drinking my tea and here's why. Turmeric has numerous and fantastic benefits and studies have proven that it is great for our skin and our brain. Aside from the fact that it is an antioxidant, it is also a good medical nutriment. For instance, it is recognized to be a powerful anti-inflammatory therefore if we tend to have acne it can help decreasing those bad bacteria that are living inside us. Researchers have examined that turmeric contains many great nutrients, which could also be considered as a ' natural ' remedy for some diseases, such as cancer and that it could also reduce obesity and it could also help people who are suffering from depression.

Here's a list of the researchers that have examined the benefits of turmeric:

Antioxidants  / Antidepressants  / Chemotherapy / Anticoagulants / Skin Care  / Diabetes Drugs  / Pain Killer  / Improve liver function /  Inflammatory Bowel Disease Drugs

Although it seems to be perfect, turmeric has its own negative side effects. In fact, when you want to consume for medical purpose, I recommend to always do a check-up to make sure that it won't make you feel any pain. Some people who are intolerant to turmeric can experience discomfort such as an upset stomach but only when taking it in very large amount. Another negative side effect is that it can thin your blood, which means that we are more sensitive and the risk of us bleeding are higher than other people. We are not sure yet why it does that but we know that some patients have experienced this situation. I personally have never experienced any negative side effects from turmeric but I also consume it only once a day, in the morning, and in a reasonable quantity.

That was all for this week and I thank you for reading this. I hope you guys enjoyed it and if you liked it don't forget to subscribe and to like this post. Also please note that English isn't my native language, therefore, there might be few mistakes but I'm here to learn, improve and evolve. :)
