My Favourite Restaurants in Montreal

Hi guys, today’s article will be about food. So for all the foodies out there, this article is for you.

Food is undeniably one of the reasons why some people travel. In fact, it is my second reason to travel in other countries. Having access to different meals, different taste, different ideas, that are  » unavailable  » in my country just makes me feel lucky and blessed to experience a culinary experience abroad. The first restaurant is let’s say,  more of an  » experience  » and here’s why;

Europea-experience 2015

Price: $$$$

If you want to eat like elitist French people and savor delicious combination of various ingredients and have a gastronomic explosion in your mouth, well this is YOUR restaurant. Europea is French restaurant located on the Business side of Montreal. The experience itself is amazing, but the tasting and meals, the wine and the design of each plate make it truly memorable. In fact, clients have the choice between the 6 or the 12-course. If I were you and craving for delicious food and want to try out a new  » genre  » then pick the 12 courses meal. Each course is combined with a specific wine or cider that will make your taste bud enjoy the richness and the work of the chef.  Although I have to admit, the restaurant is pricey, it is an experience that people should try at least one in their lives.

FoieGwa-experience 2018

Price: $$$

Foiegwa is a French restaurant located in St-Henri. They serve typical French dishes (dinner AND brunch). The restaurant will suits, vegetarians as well as meat eaters. In fact, people who order, either dinner or brunch have the opportunity to order their meal with foie gras, which is worth the price as well as delicious. I ordered the Homemade spaghetti with butter & black truffle, 64′ egg yolk, Parmigiano Reggiano with a piece of foie gras, which was ABSOLUTELY tasty. All the flavours mixed together made me go to heaven. The spaghetti was creamy without being creamy. It was sweet and heavenly good. I felt like paradise was running into my mouth.

La Banquise– experience 2014

Price: $

La Banquise is a typical Québécois restaurant, where they will serve mainly North American food, but they will also serve the traditional Quebec Meal: Poutine. Poutine is probably one of the simplest meal that exists, but it’s delicious. It only contains 3 main ingredients ( fries, cheese and brown sauce), but the specialty of the restaurant is that each poutine is unique. One may be  » Mexican type  », which contains avocado, cream cheese, bacon, etc. Another one may have cream cheese, onion and another type of cheese. It’s really good. All people that I know that have visited Montreal enjoyed their experience at La Banquise. The people are nice, people go there to eat carbs and fat meal.

Chez Ma Grosse Truie Chérie– experience 2016

Price: $$1/2

Oysters’ fans, this restaurant is for you ! Oh yaaaaaaas. The reason: every Thursday, the restaurant has this  » Oyster $1  ». You can eat as many oysters as you want, for which, it won’t cost your arm and leg. Fantastic isn’t? The restaurant itself is not a seafood restaurant, in fact, it is a French restaurant. The idea is very similar to  » Foiegwa  » but the menu is completely different but is as tasty. In addition, another meal that I tried there was their  » foiegras grilled cheese  ». It sounds absolutely disgusting if you get the image of cheese + foie gras combined into a sandwich, but gosh, it was scrumptious and totally worth the experience.

Swarchz-experience 2013

Price: $

Swarchz is probably one of most popular restaurant in Montreal. In fact, this restaurant is where many people go eat a great smoked meat. Although it is really worth it, it can sometimes be quite long before getting a table. The only time I’ve been I waited close to 40 minutes due to the high volume of people waiting before me. If you don’t feel like eating smoked meat, you will have the choice to get turkey or salami. I haven’t tried it, but I believe it could be really good and a good choice for the non-beef eater.

L’avenue-experience 2017

Price: $

L’avenue is one of my favorite breakfast restaurants. I love how tasty their benedictine eggs are and how their Hollandaise sauce is creamy. Just thinking about it, I’m drooling. If you have to go to this location, you absolutely won’t regret ordering benedictine eggs. They are THE best !!! However, the only inconvenient that comes up to my mind when I think about it is the time wait. I waited close to 1,5 hour to get a table. The negative aspect about this wait time is that we had to wait outside. During summer time, it can be nice, however, during winter…. it can be quite brutal to have to wait over even 10 minutes, OUTSIDE. Although the wait was a killer, the food was delicious.
